Snowman Towel Holder

Materials

Abbreviations Used – US Crochet Terms

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • mr – magic ring
  • sc – single crochet
  • sc inc – work 2 single crochet into the same stitch
  • dc – double crochet
  • dc inc – work 2 double crochet into the same stitch
  • ch 1 or ch 2 at the start of a round does not count as a stitch

Main Piece

Using white yarn, start with a sl st around the hair elastic and ch 2

rnd 1: 40 dc around the hair elastic, sl st to the top of the first dc (40)

  • if your hair elastic if larger or smaller then the one I used you may need more or less stitches, just make sure the elastic is completely covered

rnd 2: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to top of the first sc (40)

row 3: ch 2, turn, dc in the next 4 st (4)

row 4-11: repeat row 3 (4)

tie off and leave a long tail for sewing

Snowball 1

using white yarn, start with a magic ring and ch 2

rnd 1: 8 dc into magic ring, sl st to top of first dc (8)

rnd 2: ch 2, dc inc around, sl st to top of first dc (16)

rnd 3: ch 2, (dc inc, 1 dc) repeat around, sl st to top of first dc (24)

tie off and leave a long tail for sewing

Snowball 2

using white yarn, start with a magic ring and ch 2

rnd 1: 8 dc into magic ring, sl st to top of first dc (8)

rnd 2: ch 2, dc inc around, sl st to top of first dc (16)

rnd 3: ch 1, (sc inc, 1 sc) repeat around, sl st to top of first sc (24)

tie off and leave a long tail for sewing

Hat

using black yarn, start with a slip knot, and ch 11

row 1: dc in the 3rd ch from hook and each ch across (9)

tie off and switch to red yarn

row 2: join with a sl st in 2nd st from the end and ch 2, dc in the same st and the next 6 stitches (7)

tie off and switch to black yarn

row 3: join with a sl st in the first st of row 2, and ch 2, dc in each st across (7)

row 4: ch 2, turn, dc in each st across (7)

Scarf

Using red (or other yarn) start with a slip knot and ch 34,

row 1: sc in the 2rd ch from hook, and each ch across (33)

row 2: ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (33)

row 3: repeat row 2

tie off and weave in any ends

Cut 6 strands about 2” long, attach 3 on each end as fringe.

Assembly

Attach snowball 1 to the main piece as shown.

Flip it over and sew snowball 2 to the end of the main piece

Sew the hat to snowball 2 as shown

Attach the buttons as shown, the white button should fit between the dc stitches in snowball 2.

Attach the scarf as shown.

Use some scrap orange yarn or thread to embroider the carrot nose.
