Reindeer Towel Holder

Materials

Abbreviations Used – US Crochet Terms

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • hdc inc – work 2 half double crochets into the same st
  • dc – double crochet
  • dc inc – work 2 double crochet into the same stitch
  • dc dec – double crochet decrease
  • ch 1 or ch 2 at the start of a round does not count as a stitch

Main Piece

Using beige yarn, start with a sl st around the hair elastic and ch 2

rnd 1: 40 dc around the hair elastic, sl st to the top of the first dc (40)

  • if your hair elastic if larger or smaller then the one I used you may need more or less stitches, just make sure the elastic is completely covered

rnd 2: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to top of the first sc (40)

row 3: ch 2, turn, dc in the next 3 st, hdc in the next 3 st, dc in the next 3 st (9)

row 4: ch 2, turn, dc inc, dc in the next 7 st, dc inc (11)

row 5-9: ch 2, turn, dc in each st across (11)

cut beige yarn and switch to brown, join with a sl st

row 10-11: repeat row 5

row 12: ch 2, turn, dc dec, dc in next 7 st, dc dec (9)

row 13: ch 2, turn, dc dec, dc in next 5 st, dc dec (7)

row 14: ch 2, turn, dc dec, dc in next 3 st, dc dec (5)

row 15: ch 2, turn, dc dec, dc in next st, dc dec (3)

row 16: ch 1, turn, sc, ch 1, sk 1 st, sc (your nose button should fit in this space)

row 17: ch 1, turn, sk the fist st, sc in ch 1 space, ch 1, sl st to last st

tie off and weave in any ends

Ears

Make 2, using brown yarn start with a slip knot,

row 1: ch 2, hdc in 2nd ch from hook (1)

row 2: ch 1, turn, hdc inc (2)

row 3: ch 1, turn hdc inc across (4)

row 4-5: ch 1, turn hdc across (4)

ch 1, sc evenly around the edges of the ear

Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Antlers

Make 2, using beige yarn start with a slip knot

ch 11, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and the next 3 ch

ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and next ch

continue to sc down the rest of the original chain

Assembly

Starting with the ears, fold the bottom corners in and sew the ears to row 10 of the main piece.

Attach the antlers behind the ears.

Sew the eyes to row 12.

Sew the nose to the inside of row 4.
