Since the Aubrey’s Pom-Pom Hat was so popular in the child and baby sizes, and so many of you asked for an adult version, here it is!

And since 2 pom-poms aren’t for everyone, I also give instructions for a single pom-pom variation.

You can get the matching cowl pattern here – coming soon!

How to make a pom-pom by hand

Start by wrapping the yarn around your hand a total of 100 times (so 50 times if you are using 2 colors).

Slide the yarn off your hand and tie it tightly in the middle.

Cut the yarn loops and sculpt your pom-pom.

Assembly

2 pom-pom variation

Start by sewing the ends of the hat together.

With the seam in the center, sew the top closed.

Turn the hat right side in, and attach the pom-poms.

Fold up the brim about 1.5” (4 cm) and tack it down if you like.

Slouchy, 1 pom – pom variation

Start by sewing the ends of the hat together.

With the hat still inside out, stitch the top of the hat together by loosely sewing around the opening and pulling it closed. A small hole is fine, it will be hidden by the pom-pom.

Turn the hat right side in, and attach the pom-pom.

Fold up the brim about 1.5” (4 cm) and tack it down if you like.
